Burma Update From The Karen Women's Organization
The Global Fund for Women stands in solidarity with the millions of
people whose lives have been devastated by cyclone Nargis, which struck
Burma on May 2, 2008. Since 1997, the Global Fund has awarded almost
$400,000 to Burmese women’s groups in exile located in neighboring
countries such as Thailand and Bangladesh. Many of these groups serve
and are comprised of women activists and refugees who have escaped the
brutal military regime. Find out how you can help. Also, read a first-hand update about the post-cyclone relief crisis as told by one of our grantees, the Karen Women’s Organization.
