Shakti Seekers Travel Program

Explore the power of women as a force for change.

Shakti is an ancient concept of creative feminine power. The Shakti Seekers Travel Program enables Global Fund supporters to meet and connect directly with our grantee partners – women activists and advocates for human rights. We hope this will allow fellow travelers to gain a deeper understanding of their work, and the work of the Global Fund for Women.

In partnership with Elevate Destinations, we plan to conduct two trips per year to visit women-led organizations in countries around the world. This past November we traveled with a small group of donor partners on a pilot trip to the south of India. Read first-person accounts from staff and donor partners who went on this trip.

Join us on a breathtaking journey to Central Asia!

Please join us for an incredible, nine-day journey to parts of the ancient Silk Road in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, April 17-25, 2010. We will see first-hand, how Global Fund for Women grantee partners work to adapt challenging political, economic and social conditions to women’s needs and bring change to their communities.

In addition to meeting with our grantee partners, we will experience the famous Central Asian hospitality, awe-inspiring landscapes and rich rural and urban cultures.
