Members of Cambodian Parliament of the Sam Rainsy Party strongly denounced the ruling of the Cambodian Appeal Court, which upheld the defamation conviction of Opposition MP, Mu Sochua. The October 21st verdict ignored the principles of a fair trial; it denied Sochua of her right to be properly represented by a lawyer of her choice, and to be judged by an independent and impartial tribunal. The decision "confirms that there is no rule of law in Cambodia when a person dares to challenge the government."
