Triple Gold for the Global Fund for Women: Nonprofit
Foundation Receives Three Awards for Excellence in
Communications
SAN FRANCISCO -- The Global
Fund for Women has been named a Gold award winner for
excellence in communications in three categories of the 2007
Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program, sponsored by the Council
on Foundations. The Global Fund for Women is being honored
for the 2005-2006 annual report "Cultivating Community," the
2005 special report "Caught in the Storm: The Impact of
Natural Disasters on Women," and for its website:
www.globalfundforwomen.org. The awards will be presented on
April 30, 2007, during the 58th Annual Conference of the
Council on Foundations in Seattle.
"Our reports and publications seek to amplify the voices
of women working for peace, justice and freedom
worldwide. These awards are testimony to this effort at
sharing the courage and determination of women's rights
activists around the globe." said Kavita N. Ramdas,
president and CEO of the Global Fund for Women.
"We are truly honored to receive the Council's
awards. This distinction demonstrates that the stories of
women's achievements around the world are indeed recognized
by the philanthropic community in the U.S.," said Leanne
Grossman, director of communications for the Global Fund for
Women.
The Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program recognizes and
encourages excellence in communications by foundations and
corporate giving programs. The awards showcase the ways
foundations and corporate giving programs use communications
strategies and techniques to advance the goals of their
grantmaking.
In addition, the awards program seeks to educate the
field of organized philanthropy about creative and strategic
communications. Through case studies, articles and other
outreach efforts, the Council on Foundations and the
Communications Network will highlight the award-winning
programs, explaining strategies and techniques that can
inform the work of other grantmakers.
