What Your Money Does

Each year the Global Fund for Women raises all the money that we give away in grants. We receive no government assistance and rely on the donations of thousands of individuals like yourself to provide the financial support needed by women's groups on every continent.

The grants we make are not large—$500 to $20,000—but they make a world of difference when put in the hands of local groups, who know firsthand what their communities need. Often what might seem like a small amount of money to us will make a big difference in the lives of women and their families in other countries.

For example:

$35 will help the Nepal Disabled and Neglected Women Society educate and train women with disabilities, and find job placements so that they may live independently and contribute to their communities.

$50 will allow the Union for the Emancipation of Indigenous Women (Union pour l'Emancipation de la Femme Autochtone) to provide school supplies and school fees for 100 indigenous girls, daughters of the displaced survivors of the Rwandan Genocide, in the Sud-Kivu Province of the Congo (D.R.)

$100 will enable the Association for the Development and Enhancement of Women to help disadvantaged Egyptian women obtain birth certificates, ID cards, and voting cards, without which they are denied access to education, social security and pensions.

$250 will enable the Women Activities and Social Services Association to publish and distribute Mehr, the first women's newsletter in Herat, Afghanistan, and to serve as a local partner for Sahar, the first independent women's radio station in the area.

$500 will allow the Project Baobab to award grants to five graduating high-school girls to design and implement their own business plans in rural areas outside of Nairobi, Kenya.

$5,000 will enable the Matilde Shelter Foundation (Fundación Casa de Refugio "Matilde") to provide 24-hour protection and holistic legal, psychological and social support to women and children confronting domestic violence in Quito, Ecuador.

Your gift helps women around the world improve their lives. Join us today!
