An easy way to increase the impact of your donation is to have your employer match it. Thousands of companies have Matching Gift Programs that will double, or even triple, individual tax-deductible contributions made by their employees. Check with your personnel office to find out about your company's program. They will give you a matching gift form that you can fill out and send to us with your contribution.

Levi Strauss & Co. Employees Double Their Impact

When the Global Fund for Women received a 250-dollar gift from Levi Strauss employees through the company’s matching gift program in 1995, a meaningful and long-lasting partnership was born. Seventeen years and over one million dollars later, we have accomplished a lot together.

Because of our shared commitment to worker rights, women in northern Nicaragua are forging new careers in jobs historically reserved for men. These women are being trained in woodworking, welding, plumbing, and electrical work. Hundreds are learning about small business administration and in the process, changing the way their communities think about women in the workplace. And because of labor rights education supported by our partnership, 40,000 women garment workers in Sri Lanka stood up to factory management in Katunayake Free Trade Zone to protest a wage-cutting pension bill.

These wins could not have happened without supporters like employees at Levi Strauss & Co., whose donations are doubled through the company’s matching gift program.

“Levi Strauss Foundation has a long-standing commitment to communities all around the world. To me, the Foundation’s work embodies the principles that Levi Strauss & Co. was founded on: originality, empathy, integrity, and courage,” said one San Francisco-based employee.

In honor of it’s 60th anniversary, the Levi Strauss Foundation invited the company’s employees to vote on how to divide $60,000 among their community partners. Global Fund for Women was the favorite and received $25,000 – thank you, Levi Strauss employees!

How Global Fund Donor Robin Fitzgerald Doubled Her Impact

Robin Fitzgerald

Robin Fitzgerald, Regulatory Affairs Leader at GE Healthcare, recently selected the Global Fund for Women as the organization that she supports through her company’s "iCare" program. Here's a short discussion on how Robin finds the matching gifts program easy and valuable as a donor:

How did you decide to support the Global Fund?

GE has an annual employee giving campaign called "iCare" . They said that if you don’t have a favorite charity, then here’s a list of causes that you can donate to, such as the United Way and other prominent charities. I’ve heard about you because of the work that my friend Melissa is doing. I’m on her Facebook group so I knew that she works with and supports the Global Fund. I decided to look and see if this was one of the charities that fit the criteria support. And there it was – a link where you could pick your own organization to support.

What’s the process of giving?

It’s very easy. The donation is deducted from your paycheck. You never see it, but you’re still giving every other week, throughout the year. And GE Healthcare also matches a percentage of what I give. So it works out very well.

If you have questions about giving to the Global Fund for Women through the matching gift program, please email Renee Saedi or call her at (415) 248-4800.

The Global Fund for Women has public charity, nontaxable, 501(c)(3) status in the United States. We rely on the annual support of many generous individuals, foundations, and corporations.
