America's largest independent evaluator of charities rates Global Fund as "exceptional" in fiscal management
SAN FRANCISCO -- The Global Fund for Women, the only US-based foundation that exclusively funds women's right's groups overseas, has been named a four-star charity by Charity Navigator, the largest independent evaluator of charities in the US. The Global Fund for Women received a four-star rating for exceeding industry standards and outperforming most charities in the area of strong fiscal management.
According to Trent Stamp, executive director of Charity Navigator, the ratings enable donors to make intelligent giving decisions. "Our goal is to help people give to charity with confidence. We awarded the Global Fund for Women our highest rating as they excel in fiscal responsibility in terms of efficiency and responsiveness to their donors."
Charity Navigator rates charities by evaluating two broad areas of financial health—organizational efficiency and organizational capacity. Under organizational efficiency, the charity evaluator considers the ratio of money spent on core programs in relation to the amount spent on fundraising, staffing and administration to reveal how well the charity functions day to day.
For organizational capacity, Charity Navigator analyzes an organization's ability to determine how well it has sustained its programs and services over time, and whether it can continue to do so. This measure shows givers how well a charity is positioned to pursue long-term, systemic change.
"Charity Navigator's four star rating validates the Global Fund's commitment to sound fiscal management and organizational transparency," said Kavita N. Ramdas, President and CEO of the Global Fund for Women. "To fulfill our mission of advancing women's rights worldwide, we allocate as much of our donor funds as possible to core grants and program services, which means more money goes directly into the hands of women's groups abroad."
