In Memory of Rhonda Copelon

Photo of Rhonda Copelon, courtesy CWGLThe Global Fund for Women mourns the passing of the extraordinary human rights lawyer and activist Rhonda Copelon. We extend our collective solidarity with sister organizations and activists in praise of Rhonda's work. Because of her role in a landmark civil suit in the early 70s, victims of human rights abroad can now seek recourse in U.S. courts. Her spirit lives on in our movements.

If you would like to make a contribution in Rhonda’s memory, you may donate to the Rhonda Copelon Fund for Gender Justice at the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) in New York. Rhonda attended Yale University and worked at CCR before going on to teach law at the City University of New York (CUNY). The Fund will deepen CCR's work on gender litigation and advocacy.
