  • Investing in Women's Rights Movements in the Middle East and North Africa

Investing in Women's Rights Movements in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is a summary of the Global Fund for Women's grantmaking in the region. Since 1989, the Global Fund for Women has provided nearly $10 million in vital core support to 384 women-led groups in 14 countries throughout the MENA. The report charts the success of the 2003 MENA Initiative, which grew our grantmaking to the region by 400 percent, and highlights several success stories of transformational social change led by and for women. Investing in Women's Rights also outlines the Global Fund for Women's movement building strategies in the region, including efforts to prioritize support to rural women, young women, and women living in conflict and war.
