The Global Fund for Women is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We maintain the privacy of our supporters through various technical means of protection. We offer web users the option of keeping their names anonymous and provide easy ways for donors to state their mailing preferences. Donors can indicate that they do not want their name shared, rented or sold by sending us an email.
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with an appropriate law enforcement investigation, current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our Web site.
In order to make a donation or purchase on this Web site, a user must first complete a donation or order form, on which the user must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number and expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes, to fill supporters' orders and to provide donations receipts. If we have trouble processing an order or donation, this contact information can be used to get in touch with the user. This information will be used to send the user materials, a tax receipt (if a donation is made), or purchased items. The user will be added to the Global Fund for Women mailing list, unless previously indicated otherwise. If you would like to be removed from the Global Fund for Women mailing list, please send us an email. We ship orders ourselves, and use a credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. The credit card company does not retain, share, store or use personal information for any secondary purposes.
To obtain the names of potential new supporters, the Global Fund for Women rents lists of like-minded organizations from trustworthy third parties. Because of the high cost of renting lists, the Global Fund for Women will also, at times, exchange its list of supporters for another organization's list, for a one-time use only. If supporters wish to have their name excluded from this sharing program they may indicate their preference by sending us an email.
Users who join the Global Fund for Women's mailing list will receive periodic mailings throughout the year. Please note that only donors to the Global Fund receive our printed newsletter. At times, we may choose to exchange our mailing list through a reputable third party with other like-minded organizations. If supporters wish to have their name excluded from this sharing program they may indicate their preference by sending us an email.
If a user elects to use our "Tell a Friend" referral service to inform others about the Global Fund and it's work, our site will request from the use the friends' names and e-mail addresses. Our Web site will automatically send those friends a one-time e-mail inviting them to visit the site. The Global Fund will not keep their contact information or send them any other materials than the one-time e-mail.
This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When you submit sensitive information via the Web site, your information is protected both online and off-line.
When our donation or order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card numbers), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry — SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer will become locked.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our supporters' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment.
If your contact information changes, or if you would like to be removed from our mailing list, the Global Fund for Women will correct, update or remove that information. To make such a change, please e-mail us.
