Amira is first generation Egyptian-American. She grew up in Montreal, Canada where she learned to speak English, Arabic, and French. Amira earned her B.A in Political Science from California State University Channel Islands where she developed a strong passion from women’s rights and social justice. As part of her studies, she focused on gendered economies and the disproportionate effect of war on women. After graduating, she moved to San Francisco where she joined the Western Regional Office of Amnesty International USA. Amira serves on the Board of RISE SLO.
