2017 Annual Report

2017 was a big year for Global Fund For Women - And for Women's Rights Globally

In the face of new threats and in response to global political events, we saw an extraordinary uprising of people joining the fight for gender equality. Now is the time to turn that momentum into lasting change for women’s human rights worldwide.

Gaining Ground & Mobilizing Resources

In FY2017 we directly awarded $10.2 million in grants — more than ever before.

*AmplifyChange is a multi-donor fund for sexual and reproductive health and rights run by MannionDaniels in partnership with Global Fund for Women and African Women’s Development Fund.

WHO WE'RE FUNDING

We want every dollar to make a big impact. That’s why our grantmaking strategy is aimed at supporting movements – because we know that women’s movements are the most powerful way to create lasting change.

Persistence & Progress on the issues

Global Fund for Women focuses on three main impact areas: freedom from violence, economic and political empowerment, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. With these rights, women can propel their lives forward to achieve gender equality.

WE MADE A PORTION OF GRANTS THIS YEAR to support women’s groups on Advocacy, Media & Technology activities that support our impact areas. We make crisis grants in response to crises and natural disasters. Our role in supporting women’s funds – national and regional organizations that make local grants to grassroots women’s groups – remains an important strategy to support and bolster women’s movements.
Grants percentages exclude fiscal sponsorship.

THE NEXT GENERATION OF WOMEN LEADERS
