Lori Adelman

Vice President, Influence and Engagement

As Vice President, Influence and Engagement, Lori leads the Communications and Engagement Team (CET) at Global Fund for Women and oversees strategic communications, partnerships and special initiatives. She is thrilled to be supporting the implementation of Global Fund for Women’s strategic plan with a focus on building and leveraging influence and visibility to support gender justice movements globally to thrive. Previously, Lori ran Feministing, an independent blog founded in 2004 that saw 1.2 million unique monthly visitors at its peak, and led youth engagement at Women Deliver supporting 700+ young changemakers around the world with strategies and resources to boost their impact. An advocate and media maker with 10+ years of experience promoting reproductive, racial, and gender justice globally, Lori also previously served at Planned Parenthood Federation of America as Director of Global Communications and has worked at the United Nations Foundation, the International Women’s Health Coalition, and Human Rights Watch. She has written for a host of print and digital properties including Rookie Magazine, Elle.com and the New York Times. She regularly appears on radio and television, and has spoken at college campuses across the U.S. about topics like feminist journalism, the politics of Black hair, transnational movement building, and the undercover feminism of Nicki Minaj. A graduate of Harvard University, she has been named to The Root 100 list of the nation’s most influential African Americans and to both Forbes and Brooklyn Magazine’s list of the “30 Under 30”. Follow her on Twitter.
