There’s no question: The Trump administration wants to restrict women’s access to abortion.
This has been clear since Trump’s first day in office, when he reinstated the Global Gag Rule as one of his first actions. The Global Gag Rule prohibits federal funding to non-U.S. organizations that provide abortion information, referrals, or services—and it has impacted an estimated 26 million women and girls globally, limiting their access to comprehensive sexual healthcare.
It is also clear in his nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court—a judge whose conservative record indicates that if he is appointed, Roe v. Wade is at risk. Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings begin next week, September 4. Now is the time to speak out and demand the U.S. Senate consider the implications of a court with Kavanaugh on the bench. If Roe is overturned, women in the U.S. will lose the right to abortion. Young women, poor women, and women of color suffer the most when bodily integrity is limited.
We must stop this momentum toward extremism. Help us send the message loud and clear that protecting women’s fundamental human right to comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare, including abortion, is the single most important issue of Kavanaugh’s hearing.
Women’s lives are on the line.
