Ammarah Maqsood [she/her/hers] is the Development Officer, West at Global Fund for Women.
Ammarah has deep rooted passions for social justice initiatives, especially human rights and equity for women and girls around the world. She enjoys connecting with donors through authentic story telling and leading donors to the frontline of gender justice movements. She’s been in the social impact space for eight years and comes from a diverse background with experiences in programs and development with both local and global nonprofits. She was previously the Director of Individual Giving at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area managing a comprehensive individual giving program. She also has experience in fundraising with a national fundraising agency partnering with organizations like Children International, The Nature Conservancy, and Save the Children. She holds a BA in Political Science and Economics and a Masters in Public Administration (MPA), focusing on Public Policy and Management. She applies her knowledge and expertise to be an effective organizational leader and approach philanthropy through a feminist and intersectional lens. Ammarah enjoys volunteering and has advocacy experiences from political campaigns to tutoring underserved youth on the border of California and Mexico, to being the Regional Ambassador for Girl Rising and a mentor at the Margot Community. A Bay Area native, Ammarah is trilingual, an avid reader, a Brit+Co model, and a coffee connoisseur!
