Mo [he/him/his] has served as the COO and CFO of Northgate Capital LLC, a global venture capital and private equity firm with assets under management approximating $5 billion, since June 2011. He is responsible for all the finance and administrative functions of Northgate. He also provides close support for the investor relations and investment management activities of the firm, and is a member of the Operating Committee of the firm. During his time at Northgate, Mo has implemented strict financial controls and a highly disciplined reporting system across multiple investment platforms and across a multi-entity global legal structure.

Mo joined Northgate after 12 years at Mohr Davidow Ventures (MDV), where he worked as the administrative general partner responsible for all company operations and limited partner relations. At MDV, Mo actively supported the investment team and helped to design and implement the framework for investment decision making, developed serious modeling and analysis capabilities for helping with financing decisions, designed the compensation framework for senior investment professionals, and managed LP relations. In addition, Mo was responsible for implementing highly effective reporting systems to ensure timely and seamless communications between MDV and its investors, and was also responsible for creating multiple internal reporting systems and processes to help improve the performance of the firm.

From 1995 to 1999, Mo was with Softbank Corp/Ziff Davis, where he most recently was CFO of ZD Events Inc., the division of Ziff Davis responsible for 40% of the company’s profits.  From 1984 to 1995, Mo worked at Sun Microsystems where he held director level finance positions, both in the US and overseas, supporting Sun’s rapidly growing domestic and international sales and marketing operations. His final position at Sun was to serve as the Finance Director for Sun’s Intercontinental Operations. Before Sun, he spent four years with Hewlett-Packard, working in the U.S. and Canadian headquarters operations.

Mo earned his MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. He holds a BS degree (with honors) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester (U.K.).
