PeiYao Chen Announced as the New President & CEO of Global Fund for Women

Global Fund for Women is pleased to announce that PeiYao Chen will be our next President & CEO. PeiYao Chen currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Global Operations at Global Fund for Women, and will take over leadership as President & CEO from Latanya Mapp Frett beginning January 1, 2024.

“I am thrilled to step into the role of President & CEO of Global Fund for Women and continue our field-leading work to find and fund bold, ambitious, and expansive gender justice movements to create meaningful change that will last beyond our lifetimes,” says PeiYao Chen. “Having co-led Global Fund for Women’s recent shift to a movement-led approach, I am honored and committed to continuing our journey to center movements, promote collective leadership, and shift power.”

PeiYao has a ten-year tenure in leadership roles at Global Fund for Women, including in her most recent role as the Senior Vice President of Global Operations, as well as serving as Interim CEO during Mapp Frett’s sabbatical in 2022. Over the past three years,  PeiYao has been integral in operationalizing Global Fund for Women’s innovative new approach to center movements, including by leading the creation of groundbreaking tools such as our forthcoming Gender Justice Data Hub to identify and fuel nascent gender justice movements across the world.

She has built strong relationships with Global Fund for Women staff, partners, and sister and sibling organizations based on trust, clarity, and respect. We are certain Global Fund for Women will reach new heights under PeiYao’s leadership.”

PeiYao has an extensive career in the non-profit sector, including serving in multiple leadership roles in research, evaluation, grantmaking, and strategic planning. Prior to joining Global Fund for Women, PeiYao was Associate Director of Evaluation at TCC Group, a management consulting firm providing strategic planning, evaluation, and capacity-building services to foundations and nonprofit organizations. She currently serves on the board of the Support Center for Nonprofit Management and is a member of the Wellesley Centers for Women Council of Advisors. PeiYao received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the Graduate Center, City University of New York.
