An easy way to increase the impact of your donation is to have your employer match it. Thousands of companies have Matching Gift Programs that will double, or even triple, individual tax-deductible contributions made by their employees. Check with your personnel office to find out about your company's program. They will give you a matching gift form that you can fill out and send to us with your contribution.
How Global Fund Donor Robin Fitzgerald Doubled Her Impact
Robin Fitzgerald, Regulatory Affairs Leader at GE Healthcare, recently selected the Global Fund for Women as the organization that she supports through her company’s "iCare" program. Here's a short discussion on how Robin finds the matching gifts program easy and valuable as a donor:
How did you decide to support the Global Fund?
GE has an annual employee giving campaign called "iCare" . They said that if you don’t have a favorite charity, then here’s a list of causes that you can donate to, such as the United Way and other prominent charities. I’ve heard about you because of the work that my friend Melissa is doing. I’m on her Facebook group so I knew that she works with and supports the Global Fund. I decided to look and see if this was one of the charities that fit the criteria support. And there it was – a link where you could pick your own organization to support.
What’s the process of giving?
It’s very easy. The donation is deducted from your paycheck. You never see it, but you’re still giving every other week, throughout the year. And GE Healthcare also matches a percentage of what I give. So it works out very well.
