India's Stonewall? Delhi Court Decriminalizes "Sodomy" Law Against Homosexuality

Global Fund joins gay rights allies and activists worldwide as the Delhi High Court  overturned 48 year old law making homosexuality a crime.

The Delhi Court ruled that a statute in Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code which defined homosexual action as “carnal intercourse against the order of nature.” was the “antithesis of  the right to equality”

We applaud our grantee partners and allies for their hard work on this issue and  their ongoing creative strategies advancing justice for LGBTI people in India. To date GFW has supported eight groups working exclusively for LBT rights and advocacy in India.
