From Moment to Movement

“Our resistance brings us together. When they attack, it doesn’t cause terror, but rather it causes people to need each other more.” Ana Maria Hernandez is a women human rights defender from Mexico and director of long-term grantee partner Consorcio Oaxaca. This past year we saw the many ways in which women like Ana Maria were unstoppable in their efforts to bring change amidst growing threats and backlash. Women in the U.S. and across the world boldly said me too—a call to action to end violence against women of all kinds, from sexual harassment in Egypt to femicide in Argentina.

Moments of outrage at the local level have turned into a powerful global movement for collective action and solidarity. Given what we’ve seen and learned, Global Fund for Women is prioritizing its movement-building strategies to ensure women’s groups can turn their momentum into lasting change for women’s rights worldwide.

Now is the time to stand with the global women’s movement.

As women around the world face new threats to their rights with dramatic shifts in U.S. policies, our grantee partners are taking action—and so are we. Join Global Fund for Women to help women and girls worldwide respond to threats and move forward despite the odds. Our work together is more urgent than ever.
